Burn Prevention

Keep matches and lighters in a locked box, out of reach of children

Always check water temperature before placing child in tub turn down the temperature on the hot water heater to 120° F.

          Keep long cord appliances toward back of counter and turn pot handles toward back of stove.  

              Create a safe zone  Keep children at a safe distance from all hot items such as stoves, heaters, wood stoves and fireplaces

Use safety plugs to cover electrical outlets and replace worn electrical cords 

          Keep a screen or glass cover over your fireplace and use protective covers and holders for your lit candles

         Be careful when using caustic substance and store them with a secure cover in a cabinet out of reach from children

         Flammable liquids can be dangerous when used near hot items, take caution when using them

            Install smoke alarms on every level and in every sleeping area of your home.  Test them once a month and replace batteries when necessary.

 Develop a home escape plan and practice it regularly with your family.
