Scope of services for Juvenile Firesetters
FireSmartKids specializes in fire safety training for juvenile firesetters providing the up most professional service with a caring attitude toward the needs and concerns of the student and family. I use the latest techniques, materials and information availlable to impress upon the families the importance of safety for them and the children involved.
Specialized Fire Safety Education & Intervention:
FireSmartKids provides 10-14 sessions of fire safety education designed to meet the age and learning level for each child. The classes are taught with a hands on approach with age appropriate tools & materials, multi-media presentations and interactive discussions. Each class builds of the previous and proceed at the pace of the child's ability to learn.Lesson topics include fire science and behavior, accountability, life skills and fire safety and survival skills.
Parent Fire Education:
This education allows for the parent/guardian to better understand the child's firesetting behavior. It also helps increase the adults understanding of fire and its behavior and allow for better fire safety awareness and skills for their home.
Home Safety Inspection:
Using standard fire inspection practices, FireSmartKids will tour through the home observing hazards, documenting them and provide recommendations for corrections that can be made by the family to make their home safer.
Fire Survival Skills:
Using the families home environment, FireSmartKids will teach the family simple and effective skills to survive a fire if one is to occur in their home. These skills teach them how to design an escape plan that is specific for their home and using that plan to practice their escape routes. I also teach them how to properly test and maintain their smoke detectors so they keep them working.
Collateral Documentation Reporting:
FireSmartKids provides documentation to collateral agencies involved in services that have referred children to our program. Such items would include progress notes, completion letters, copy of graduating certificates. FireSmartKids strives to maintain positive working relationships with all collaterals involved in the continuum of care of our clients.
